Product Shape

Bordeaux

Bordeaux-style glass bottles use a tall cylindrical body, pronounced shoulders and relatively straight sidewalls to create a familiar wine-bottle profile. The long lower body provides useful front and back label areas, while artwork should stay below the shoulder transition for more consistent application. Depending on the exact neck finish, Bordeaux bottles may be configured for cork or suitable screw-cap systems. Buyers should confirm bottle height, base and punt design, glass weight, closure standard, filling-line requirements and export-carton dimensions. Pressure-rated sparkling applications require a separate structural specification and should not be assumed from a standard Bordeaux shape.

Decision Points

Design & Usability

01

Shape Characteristics

Tall cylindrical body, distinct shoulder and comparatively straight sidewalls provide a recognizable commercial wine-bottle silhouette.

02

Label & Branding Area

The long body supports front/back labels, paper wraps and screen printing. Label height must stay below the shoulder transition.

03

Stability & Packing

Designed for upright case packing; base and punt design should be matched to bottle weight and filling-line requirements.

Specification Checklist

Production & Fit

01

Opening & Closure

Typically specified for cork or screw-cap systems depending on the exact finish. Closure dimensions, bottle pressure requirements and market standard must be confirmed before production.

02

Production Considerations

Bottle height and weight influence pallet efficiency. Champagne-pressure applications require a different structural specification and should not be assumed from a standard Bordeaux profile.

03

Custom Mold Guidance

Custom embossing, shoulder details, punt and label panels can be engineered while maintaining the core Bordeaux handling geometry.
