Crown caps are crimped metal closures used with beverage bottles that have a compatible crown finish. The bottle finish, cap shell, liner compound and capping head must be selected as one system; pry-off and twist-off formats are not interchangeable. For carbonated or thermally processed beverages, confirm the required pressure, sealing and temperature performance with the actual bottle and filling process. Production validation can include capping profile, internal pressure, leakage, removal force and pasteurization or temperature-cycle testing where relevant. Crown caps should also be stored and packed dry so shells and liner surfaces are not deformed or contaminated.
