Capacity & Size

4oz Candle Jars

4oz Candle Jars are used for small candles, samples, favors, travel formats and scent-discovery programs. Treat Nominal 4oz candle-jar class as a market size reference rather than a guaranteed net wax weight. Usable wax fill depends on the vessel’s internal geometry, wax density, headspace and the brand’s filling specification, while internal diameter and height influence wick development and finished appearance.Compare the exact jar with its intended lid, label or decoration and final carton. Approve the production-style vessel, establish the commercial wax fill, then complete burn testing with the intended wax, fragrance and wick system. For wholesale orders, also review finished candle weight, base stability and protective packing so the selected size works through filling, retail presentation and transport.

Buyer Notes

What else should be confirmed?

Nominal Capacity / Range

Nominal 4oz candle-jar class is the nominal market size. Do not convert the label directly into a guaranteed wax weight; establish the usable fill on the actual vessel.

Key Dimensions & Fit

Compare outside diameter or width, internal diameter, height, base footprint, wall/rim geometry and finished vessel weight. Different models in the same size group can vary substantially.

How to Choose

Choose the final jar by usable wax fill, internal diameter, wick strategy, lid fit, branding area, finished candle weight and carton efficiency—not ounces alone.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about this size

These answers cover the questions most likely to affect product selection, sampling and quotation for this collection.

Still have a question? Ask our team →
How do I choose the right candle jar size and diameter?

Start with the planned usable wax fill, target burn format, wick layout, label area, lid, box and desired shelf presence. Review outside dimensions together with the internal diameter and actual usable volume.

A wider jar may require a different wick configuration from a tall narrow jar. Request the drawing and sample, then confirm fill weight, component fit and burn performance before production.

Why is the wax fill weight different from the jar’s stated capacity?

A jar’s stated capacity does not directly equal the finished candle’s wax weight. Capacity is a volume reference, while wax weight also depends on wax density, headspace, wick base, vessel geometry and the chosen fill line. Use the listed capacity to compare models, then weigh the actual wax formula in a physical sample. Product labels and costing should use the validated net fill of the finished candle.

Do you recommend a wick size for each candle jar?

We can provide the jar dimensions needed for wick development, but a final wick specification must be validated with the actual candle formula. Wick performance changes with inner diameter, wax type, fragrance load, dye, wick material and the intended burn profile.

Use the vessel dimensions to select starting wick candidates, then complete repeated burn testing before approving the finished candle.

How do you confirm that a lid fits a candle jar?

Match the lid to the exact finished jar opening and rim, including any insert, sealing ring or internal structure used by the lid. Nominal diameter alone is not enough to confirm fit.

Approve the jar-and-lid combination on production-representative samples, check opening and closing feel, and then confirm the assembled height and fit inside the final retail and export packaging.
